"I Want To Be A Missionary"

“I Want To Be A Missionary”

Vennie - Aicy - George

As mentioned one of our primary prayer burden for this place is faithful labourers. Can you imagine our surprise when a waitress here, Aicy, a very capable and astute young lady, came back to the Lord only last trip? Not that she had totally backslidden, but, in the absence of Christian fellowship in this place she had stopped living brightly for Christ. But, our small team showing up in her café a few weeks ago all talking about Jesus, Jesus, Jesus and what He was doing in her place and it had reignited her love for the Lord had got her on fire again and she prayed there and then repenting for being cold in heart and rededicated her life to the Lord.

Later that evening she found us and told us that she had arranged a meeting at the home her mother was staying at (Her mother is just 36 and is only 11 years older than her). This seemed like a wonderful result as the venue we had showed up for our other church plant still had their idols in place so we explained to them again why we could not meet there. That meant attending the  meeting Aicy arranged was now fine.

When we arrived there, just a few hundred metres a down a thin track in the pitch black, there were already around 15 people waiting for us in a home that must have had more idols than a catholic cathedral!!! But it was too late to return to the first venue. So, let the meeting begin. After a song or two in a very subdued and quite oppressive atmosphere, several of our team shared with fire and compassion as to the danger of idols and the abomination they were to God. In the middle of that the owner of the first property we were due to hold our meeting in came to join us. I could see her out of the corner of my eye counting the idols in this place in disbelief and estimating that there were at least ten times more than she had in hers. I avoided eye contact.

At the appeal most everyone made a firm decision to renounce Catholicism and follow Jesus, Aicy beamed from ear to ear and I could still the rebuffed friend seeking eye contact with me. We prayed for the ten or so sick that had indicated they’d like healing and as usual Jesus showed His great compassion and power and healed them.

Back to the story – While we drunk our coffee Aicy hovered about as if she was waiting to say something, then within the same hour as our friend Jeans prayer of total surrender to service, Aicy burst out also “I want to be a missionary”! That term here means “I want to commit to evangelism and reach the lost”. It doesn’t really mean they’d like to ship off to a foreign land. Aicy explained that she wished to continue outreaching and arranging house meetings just as she had her own family.

Explaining further that everyone in the home full of idols had requested that we return???

The next day a couple stopped us, they said they had waited to see us as they had attended the meeting in the home of idols and the man had been 75% healed of ulcer pain and would we also now pray for his elbow. We prayed right there in the street and God totally healed both ulcer and elbow pain completely. They also asked when we could return for another meeting. Seems like Aicy will be busy already. Are you the one to go and help her, pray for her or even sponsor her. It is not expensive to support a full time Christian worker here.
