Respond to the Gospel
As we were leaving our
mountain house this morning Jean our host happened to mention that her schedule
would begin that day with a PTA – Parent, Teachers, Association. I inquired
about that and asked if it would be possible to talk with them for 5 minutes to explain why we are up the mountain as already our presence has allegedly
caused a stir. Besides, our days trek would be taking right past that school. Jean agreed to check that with the principle and
we all left together.
Soon I was shaking hands with
the principal as a few staff and scores of parents poured into the large double size classroom.
I’m not sure what I expected by way of numbers but I didn't think it would be as many as we were seeing, the parent of every child in this small
school.
The principal tried to open
the meeting to the now crowd of 400 or so jammed into that space but their
sound system wouldn’t work. No problem, we offered them the use our small
portable system. This obviously melted his heart as when he eventually could be
heard above the din of chattering parents he
greeted the crowd and added that there were guests from overseas and we were
invited to share why we there for 10 or 15, or even 20, 30 minutes ha! From 5mins
to 30 min's was clearly the grace of God with compliments of our system not his.
I shared how I got saved; why
I was there and why Jesus died for them. I was surprised at the 100% attention
they gave and the unanimous response to the invitation to accept Christ as
saviour. A sea Catholic and Muslim hands went up all over the room as they bowed and
repented. Sadly, we were out of time so there was no opportunity to pray for
the sick as we see again and again the Lord really confirms His word in the
hearts and bodies of the hearers with many healing miracles
.
