Raised a Witch from the Dead Cast Out a Demon

Raised a witch from the dead & Cast out a demon

Breakfast is always interesting at our place. We usually have a minimum of three guests stay over at our rental sometimes as many as eight. All of which have the most incredible testimonies to share. Today was no exception as Jun, Vennie and her friend and new team member Nening were with us.

They were here as they had all helped (more like they did all the work) in cleaning the old building we have taken over as an outreach training centre. Our aim is to bring those that would like to come from our outreaches for fast track discipleship so they can return to their villages and assist with the church planting. We are in such demand of labourers that this seems the current best way until you get here :)

So, this morning, after strong persuasion, Nening shared how as volunteer Purok (small village) chaplain she was out selling her Balut (16 day old duck eggs) when someone ran up and told her a certain woman in the community had just died and as chaplain she should come and pray straight away.

Nening laid down her eggs and ran to the woman’s house thinking “what am I doing – this lady is a witch, awkward and has cursed many people in our place”. When she arrived the woman had been gone for some twenty plus minutes already. She was still and lifeless, finger tips were blue and worse she had lost control of all bodily functions so there was a stench.

Never having been in this situation before she said “Lord I dont know how to pray”. Without a reply that she was aware of her simple prayer over the corpse was “Lord if you have a plan for this lady’s life let her live so she can fulfil it”.

Straight away the woman jolted in the bed and began gasping for air; she opened her eyes and was shocked to learn she was gone for almost half an hour. For the first time she listened to the gospel of Jesus Christ as Nening explained what had happened and that God had surely sent her back so she could be saved. It’s no surprise the witch readily accepted the offer of salvation in Christ and then completely turned her life around. For two years the woman was a faithful church goer.

It was after this seeming reprieve of two years reprieve that she was again laid low in a sick bed. The end seemed close when someone alerted Nening that her disciple was at deaths door again. So she showed up ready to pray more confident than she was before. The woman was physically low and had not been able to speak for some time. Just as Nening was about to ask the Lord to heal her, the woman, with eyes closed and speechless lips strangely raised her arm right up and begin to wave as if saying goodbye, then she was gone… She had two years to walk with the Lord but now it was her time.

Demon Cast Out

She told us of another occasion she went in to church and a woman there and seemed very angry at her. She discerned the woman had a demon and so laid her hand on the woman and commanded the demon to leave at which point the demon really manifested contorting the woman’s face and body, most everyone ran away in fear and shock, Nening stayed commanding the spirit to leave which it eventually did. The woman was peaceful and gentle  and church resumed as normal.

Interesting breakfast conversation eh!

Nening’s Dilemma

Nening is praying about joining our team full time. We could really use her. In the two days she stayed with us she put us all to shame, she worked like a human factory at the once filthy centre, three of our guys cleaned it in a day and a half. When she back to our house to “rest” she took over the cleaning, cooking & gardening and made Jo redundant. She pulled all the covers of the couches and hand washed them, the large cloth covering the table, that got hand washed as well.

Further, we attended two outreaches yesterday, one at the cemetery and another across the river in a tribal village. At both venues, on arrival, she immediately began reaching out to the lost then organising the children for bible stories.

Her dilemma about joining the team is this, she has a son still at school, who is fine to stay with his father whilst Nening joins us on outreach, but, and here’s the stunner, the boy only has two T-shirts, so she needs to be there every day, to wash the used one, so he can wear a clean one to school next day. The simple solution of course is that the husband learns to wash T-Shirts, but he won’t! Or, she buys 3 more T-shirts so she can do laundry catch up on Saturday’s right? To us that would be nothing, in her world her average daily earnings of 60p/80c makes buying even one extra T-shirt almost impossible. Can you even contemplate that you have faith to raise the dead but no money to buy a T-shirt – Oh yes! We witness that paradox here all the time.

Of course, we will cover the T-shirts, but I purposefully added this paragraph to let you see both the calibre of Gods servants and the power they move in and the constant challenge that they have no money to provide for their family and serve full time in the ministry.

If you have any leading while reading this to raise up more workers for the growing revival here click the “donate” button at the side. If you have an even stronger leading to come and help us, then let’s begin dialogue, we are interested to hear from you. If you have no leading for either then do not let our front line directness offend you.  Please, whatever, you do or do not do, pray for us - Thanks :)

For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.
