What Preachers do I recommend: Oh dear what a question and such a sad reply that I have to think so hard to answer.
Why did Yeshua say in Mt7:14 Only few will be saved? Or warn us that at the end their will be a great falling away? Is it because we will heap to ourselves teachers having itching hears and stray because of being taught the doctrine of demons, vain philosophies and the sleight of man seeking to make merchandise out of us? Read 2Peter 2 & Jude
I stood outside a Christian bookshop yesterday and looked at the offering
in the window and my word what a "heap" it really was. If the store owner had half
an ounce of discernment or personal bible knowledge none of the books in the window would be there. Let's not even think about the shelves.
The window was filled with books displaying Hollywood airbrushed looks, 2 kilos of cosmetics & fashion designer clothing. Many of the authors were book factories churning out a fresh one every second month.
I could not see one title on the narrow way, the life of Christ, The Way of the Cross, the death of the old man BEFORE the life of the new... No, everything was about How to find your Life and zero about how to lose it.
Of course I know the father has His 7,000 that have not bowed the knee to Baal. But,
as if to protect them He hides them in the hollow of His hand from the glare of
public temptation and of becoming puffed up by public appeal & demand.
We should know that God has no "Great" men to proclaim His word but only some unlearned and ignorant fisherman see 1 Corinthians 1v26. Humble souls that
are broken so He can now use them greatly. But for the most part it's seems
Father does not allow a man fame till he's dead. Certainly spiritually and most
likely "actually" dead. We need no great men - We need the words of God through humble watchmen, watchmen sufficiently surrendered to God in that they do not fear our wrath at their obedience, they are not concerned if their words will affect their book or DVD sales but they do sincerely fear Gods wrath at their disobedience.
But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus
Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. -Galatians
6:14
Our Father is wise in that He delivers us from the lure of being famous
until He knows it will no longer touch us and draw our hearts away from Him. Beware
of "highly esteemed" "famous preachers": God sees public recognition as an extreme
danger.
And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but
God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is
abomination in the sight of God. -Luke 16:15
Christ frequently hid himself, would give instruction to keep the miracle
quiet. Interesting that the Father chose a time to send His dear son when Radio,
Satelite, TV & Internet had still not been invented? Why? Because the revelation
of Christ is never the outcome of mass media but the revelation of the Holy Ghost
by the gospel faithfully proclaimed through lips of lowly rightous no ones! All
about Him and nothing about us. Paul preached to just 12 men in Asia (Acts 19) Later we read that ALL of Asia had heard the gospel in only two years!
At the slightest hint of self promotion or promotion of "their ministry", or even having their "ministry" named after them and their books & DVDs decorated with their faces, then you can be assured they are far from both the
death and the life of the cross and therefore far from the revelation of the Holy Spirit. They have nothing to say on behalf of the Almighty.
On that basis my friend, if seeking truth not empty promises, mere
spiritual stimulation & entertainment. For me the greatest revelations of
Christ can be found in His word. I have also in years past found great instruction in the writings of.
Oswald Chambers
Andrew Murray
Watchman Nee
AW Tozer
Madam Guyon
George Warnock
Jessie Penn Lewis
Charles Finney
Hudson Taylor
Perhaps only George Warnock is the only one still alive and he gives his books away free. If he is alive then George will be a 100. Perhaps he has his rest and his reward now - I don't know.
Living preachers that I have received instruction from - David Pawson, Andrew Strom, Ravi Zacharias. In my limited sphere of who is who I have heard them and have been blessed.
For me, I'm so blessed, the daily revelation of the word is overwhelming. Oh such an
abundance of manna. Only a few verses and I'm feasted we'll beyond my needs.
There is a place of sweet relief, close to the heart of God, Amen. I have
neither time nor hunger for books, finding myself unable already to process the
whisper of the Holy Ghost at the opening of His Holy Word. I can be three weeks on one verse alone, it is so rich & deep that I cannot move away from it until permission comes. And, neither do I want to move away.
Often, now, even when I'm not actually reading the bible, a thought will come into my mind that will astound me about a previously closed verse. If I'm able I'll try to write it down but the revelation is streaming and too fast too accurately record. He simply pours out fresh manna along the way and
the empty husks that the swine would eat are revealed for what they are - Empty
husks for the prodigal
Regards
George
