The Miracle of the Tyres

The Miracle of the Tyres – Where He guides He provides

We returned to General Santos yesterday from our fourth trip up the goddess of Evil Mountain and what a trip it was. Though, our return home was marked by a 6.2 earthquake which is the 6th since we have been here. Thankfully, no damage, casualties or Tsunamis.

This trip marked a new beginning for us in that Jo & I were not the ones to fund it. We were able to go by God’s grace because someone without knowing the down turn in our business not only sponsored all the costs of the outreach but also supplied the much needed dirt tyres, now we could drive with less risk of slashed tyres and becoming stuck on a perilous rock mud track, a sheer drop on one side and frustrated vehicle drivers before and behind and mud slide potential on the other side.

This practical blessing also meant we could reach the communities much further up the mountain. These were miracles that no one knew, even the rest of the team, that when we surrendered to the leading to return to the mountain the funds were not available. Despite numerous and expensive efforts, our UK business, for whatever reason, has failed to function profitably since April last year, so learning to trust the Lord to underwrite His plan and purpose is fun/interesting/humbling. His faithfulness covers the details. We strongly believed the Lord wanted us to go so we acted like we would go, spoke and planned like we would go, then amazingly only a couple of days before leaving the Lord touched this persons heart and they provided new tyres, a large battery so we can light up our outreach venues and the funds that covered everything for the week for a team of 5. We are really praising the Lord for that on many levels.

It was quite an encouragement to us and the team when we shared with them how the Lord was confirming His will by these miracle acts of provision. Lord bless that person! For all these years we have been the ones that write the checks, give the money and fund the outreach. It’s good to experience that from both sides I guess.

This track has just been cleared and another small landslide has begun

We are heading top right were you see the people

Another sharp rock landslide

No problem for 4 wheel drive & good dirt tyres

This traqck has just been scraped - So much easier

We are about to head across there

View from the right going forward

Sharp rocks again - But the journey yields much fruit

View to the left

We just crossed this river - Its full of cyanide from the gold processing

A slow careful drive and we wont scrape the sides

A challenge when something comes up the other way

Only dirt bikes - we had to walk

More walking

Passable - Just

Too narrow for van but great for up close preaching

Careful Careful - Many mudslides on this stretch

Centre Grey house is the gold factory we stay in

Thankfully this stretch is wide enough to pass
