Miracles on the Street & In The Schools

One of our many JSPs - Just Stop & Preach
Street Preaching

Since many of the rock tracks up the mountain have no room for a vehicle to pass, except for a motorbike so we walk, carrying the 25kg sound system. Which is fun for the first 30m but then becomes a challenge.

But one day last week when the rain was coming down hard and even though the alleys are very narrow and most shacks have some form of canopy roof that almost overlaps the canopy roof on the other side we still have to take refuge from the deluge running off the canopies and adding to the mud, rock pools that form the track. Whilst sheltering from one particularly strong deluge it occurred to me to begin testifying to the dozen or so locals also seeking shelter.
I began to preach loud so as to be heard above the roar of the rain on the tin sheet roofing above us, no speaker system just directly addressing the people. It somehow made me
feel closer to the people. I realized there and then that certainly the sound system has a place but there is a far warmer response when we don't use it but instead talk close up and face to face.

Straight away one of the team began interpreting for me. Soon the group of listeners doubled in size as those within ear shot enthusiastically came and joined the small group.
We testify so often that usually we can give our testimony as to how our lives were before Christ, how we came to Christ and how life is now. During which we point out sin and Gods cure for it. Then we offer a simple invitation to repent and surrender their lives to Christ. On this occasion, all but one raised their hand to ask Gods forgiveness.

Because we were heading for a scheduled meeting to a small local school we did not have time to offer prayer for the sick but by Gods grace we will return.

The school children and staff were excited to see us and shouted and cheered at our arrival. Around 200 pupils and staff all jammed into one large classroom and several of us again gave short, to the point testimony always maximizing Christ and minimizing ourselves. We are not there to become celebrities but to reach lost souls for Jesus. By Gods grace as far as we could see every soul again responded to the invitation to repent and accept Christ as saviour including Muslims.

Boy With Swollen head

One pupil came and thanked us that his tooth ache was still gone? What was he talking about? Seeing my puzzled look he reminded me that he had come forward for healing prayer at one of our earlier street outreaches during his lunch break. I said I thought that I remembered the little guy with a toothache problem, he pointed out that his face was swollen to near twice normal size earlier but the pain left the tooth immediately after we prayed and the swelling completely disappeared over the next hour. Here he now was telling us "No more pain".
