Ex Rebel Healed of 20 yr Pain- Feb 13, 2012

Feb 13th 2 days ago we went to visit a village Captain (like an administrative authority, a role to be respected here). She was amazed when she saw the pastor that was driving us appear at her office. She explained she had recently had a dream and in the dream the pastor was driving his car and with him were people who’s faces she couldn’t make out people that were going to bring her good news..  Then we showed up! We shared the gospel of Jesus Christ then listened as she told us of her heartbreaking childhood filled with every kind of abuse and domestic violence, the violence only ended after she witnessed her mother hack the father with a machete to defend herself and family.

Her life seemed futile and she wanted to die but lacked the courage to kill herself. Instead she hatched the plan that if she walked into one of the rebel camps they would kill her on the spot and her anguish would be resolved. However, four years later, travelling on a bus as a gun runner for the rebel camp that she had walked into, she’s now about to be searched by the soldiers that’s boarded the bus looking for people carrying out the exact activity that she is doing.

Since her life had improved as a rebel she’s no longer so keen to die she’s now terrified that she will be exposed as she was carrying a bag full of guns and ammunition, dragged off the bus and shot – She prays to God and in His mercy she avoids discovery. As a result quits the life of a rebel and several years later finds herself with the noble role of Barangay Captain. So, here we are telling here the good news that the sins of the buried past can be forgiven and she can be guilt free in Jesus.

You could see that she’s amazed, quite overwhelmed, but still reluctant to accept Christ as saviour. Nevertheless, she allowed us to pray for her and while doing so I asked the Lord out loud that He would do whatever it took to bring her to the foot of the cross. This week we got a call from Lito, saying that she called him and said she’d received a report back from the hospital saying she has a spot on her liver which confirmed she had something wrong. For 20 years she experienced pain in the liver but could'nt face hearing she may have cancer so she avoided getting it checked. She never mentioned it to us at the time but the pain had left her inimmiediatly when we had prayed.

We shall see her later this week God willing. She also welcomed our request to hold gospel outreach concerts in her jurisdiction.
