Pink bag is actually a corpse |
The dead man on the motorbike
On route one morning to one of our street outreach’s we had to stop and wait as down the track just ahead of us a body was being strapped onto a flat door which was tied to the back of a motorbike. Apparently he’d died through the night and they wanted to get him down the mountain for burial and this was the best and least expensive way to do it strapped to the back of a motorbike.

Later, I mentioned this to our host Daniel. He laughed explaining that it wasn’t so unusual and that happens frequently there. He told of the time he was a bike driver there on the mountain and a man had got very seek with generator exhaust fumes and had to be rushed to the hospital a minimum one hour precarious journey down in the valley below.
Halfway down he became aware that the man who hugged him in his half coma state had actually died already. There was nothing more Daniel could do other than tie the man’s hands together and place them over his head and then tie both their waists together so that the man wouldn’t fall off. He explained that it wasn’t his preferred plan to strap a dead body to himself for a dangerous downhill motorbike ride but neither could he leave him lying at the side of the track up the mountain. Of course some bright soul wanted to know how much he charged the dead man for the fare? Actually, I wonder if this man was present at any of our many street outreach's and if he was one of those that responded to give his life to Christ? Eternity will declare it.
