          We left Gerry’s small encampment and within the hour I’m racing back with Pastor Paul on the back of his motorbike. He had just taken a call saying that one of the children began convulsing right after we had left them. We got there to learn some of the men had already carried her to the nearby hospital. We rode there and arrived in the ward to sobering silence as several nursing staff tended to the little pile of rags and bones lying limp on the bed. The mother, bare foot, filthy and very frightened stood off to the side. A male nurse approached me and quietly explained they didn’t expect her to live as she had Bacterial meningitis and the 2 other cases brought in that week had both died shortly after arrival. Regardless, I felt a peace in my heart from when I first heard about this, that if I prayed the Lord would heal her.

          A few days ago I took Jo to the village for the first. We received a warm welcome from everyone, but the biggest smiles came from a bare foot and delighted tribal mother and a totally healed child. Praise God. The same little child the medical staff expected her to die… The Lord had other plans..
